Abstract
The Q2 behaviour of the moments of gluon distributions as well as flavour singlet and non-singlet combinations of quark distributions are obtained from an analysis of the present electron and muon deep inelastic data. The higher-order QCD terms have been taken into account, and two different definitions of parton distributions beyond leading order are discussed. The forms of the distributions which reproduce the moments at a particular value of Q2 are also given. The extrapolation of the moments to large Q2 (several hundred GeV2) are found to be consistent with the preliminary muon data at these high values of Q2.
